What's it like to be rich?

Was driving home today thinking about how if I could I would get rid of my wardrobe and start again. That is not an option. Between work, 4 dc and volunteering our lives are exceptionally busy and despite having a good income we don't have the freedom to do what we like. I was just wondering if you are truly rich what is your life like? Does someone else do all your menial tasks? Kids in private schools? Lots of holidays, shopping, eating out and activities?
Anyone actually consider themselves to be rich or is it all relative and we all actually have constraints on our daily lives that aren't actually connected to money?
Just wondering....

One time the boss drove himself for a change and some random woman nipped into the parking space he was waiting for. He wound his window down and said Wtf? and she said in a smarmy voice “That’s what you can do when you have a nippy little car!”. So he rammed his massive 4x4 into her car repeatedly and absolutely destroyed it. Then said “That’s what you can do when you’re a fucking multi millionaire, here are my insurance details”.

Bullshit

My sister is loaded and I can se she is no happier than I am. Easier life, yes. But no happier. It's rather comforting.

As a pp said, I've heard this before in a fictional context - a film maybe.

I thought the op was asking for real experiences though....

DH and I are ‘rich’ - think 1%. It is great but we have both worked hard for it. I experienced hardships as a child and it’s made me more resilient and grateful for what we have. Don’t ever think wealth is a cushion against sorrow, grief or illness though. None of us, no matter how wealthy, can escape loss, illness or sadness.

@joystir59 has it. I'm in remission and I absolutely feel rich now that I can do all the things I couldn't when I was seriously ill.

Might be controversial- but has anyone else gone from being working class to not having to worry about money?
How did you find it and how was the transition?
(I know that I'll get lots of rude comments)

You’re making a false equivalence. Being WC doesn’t mean ‘poor’.

@AdaFromYorkshire You sound fab Smile.

For those who see travelling First Class as a signifier of success, may I tell you that it is extremely overrated. You are in a tiny cabin - alone - and it is very boring. At least in Business Class you can look at other people and occasionally exchange small talk. In First, you can't even see anyone else. And forget about mingling with celebrities, they never leave their cabins and never seem to eat or pop to the loo or anything. The First Class bar is always empty so you just sit there like a Billy No Mates until you shuffle back to your cabin.

Yeah sounds awful. I’d much rather have some stranger’s elbow jabbing into my side and eat salty mush from plastic trays.

Hi. I think it certainly would take the sting out of being poor. Since bills are getting so high now and not being able to even have a break away from the usual pull down of the daily grime and struggles. But also on the other side of the coin. Being rich I would imagine not knowing who to trust and also safety matters. Especially if person is in the public eye. I think maybe they tend to mix in similar circles for comfort. Poorer classes tend to remain in same circles. Thats what it seems anyway. I could be wrong. My family were poor and I followed down the line unfortunately. But if you have many health issues on top. Whether you are rich or poor. Some long term health issues remain. It just means better private treatment to be seen if rich rather then having to wait on the nhs queues to be seen. Or told nhs dont deal with certain issues and you have to pay. And then you cant so for better or worse, you are stuck and have to simply get on with it, which can make you feel depressed. Same with dental treatment. Only certain things can be got on nhs. I think more then not struggle these days to keep it all together.
