Cast coming off broken leg.......advice please.

Dh broke his ankle / leg on Christmas day and has been in a cast and non weight baring since then. The cast is due to come off on Thursday (hurray) but I'm wondering what the likely rehab is going to be and how long before he will be walking around again. Can anyone share their experiences?

hi it took around a week to be able to walk with cast off and no crutches and about the same to drive. its very strange to start with and i needed to 2 crutches when cast first came off ( for about 30 mins of walking around). I guess its confidence and the leg feels very weak.

My son has had a full leg cast taken off this morning - he's been non weight bearing for 4 weeks after breaking his shin bone. He's had physio and can weight bear using crutches, expected to be fully weight bearing in less than 2 weeks and back to sport in 4 weeks. He's nervous of putting weight on his leg but says he is in no pain. Full range of movement is expected within 2 weeks.
