'Pass your test in 5 days'

Dilbertian · 02/02/2020 17:28

I was driving behind a learner with this on the roof sign.

Is it possible? You could I suppose do 4-5h of instruction per day, with rest breaks for lunch and snacks, and add up to the same number of hours that many people will have had before passing the test. But could you actually do it? I would find it mentally exhausting and physically draining, and I'm an experienced driver.

No it's fine. 1 week courses are nothing new. Most drivers can do 6hr straight easy so 6hr with breaks for a learner is reasonable.

I passed my motorbike test by doing one of those courses. I actually was a much better motorbike rider than I was driver because I had so many more hours of lessons on the intensive course.

It's an intensive course (they are a thing!!)

I did this 30 years ago, 2 hour lesson Monday - Friday and then the test in the afternoon. I passed.

Yeah, intensive courses have been around for a long time. You do four days of lessons and then take your test on the fifth day.

Personally I think they're a pretty bad idea as you can't get much experience in a week, but there we go!

Lipperfromchipper · 02/02/2020 18:18

Wow! here in Ireland you HAVE to hold your provisional for 6 months before you can apply for your test, you must also do a theory, have an up to date eye test and at LEAST 12 hours of lessons. Impossible to do it in one week here.

Dilbertian · 02/02/2020 20:26

Automatic or manyal?

Manual in my case. Two weeks after I passed my dad was really ill and I drove from London to Yorkshire every weekend for months.

adaline, being a clueless driver/lack of awareness has nothing to do with how long you take your lessons over.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 02/02/2020 21:04

My son did it, 5 hours a day for 4 days . Manual
