This has stuck in my head for years. When I was about 10 we did about Egypt at school and in a group we painted a life size Mummy in lovely colours and I got to take it home. It was lamainted and attached to my bedroom wall (not sure what with) and was there for over a year. One night me and my mum watched a documentary on Egypt and curses before going to bed. That night the mummy on my wall fell down and landed on me in bed Shock it haunted me for months! Obviously a complete coincidence but still Grin

@disappointed101 I think it was. Although I've never heard of them going into the future...unless I went sideways 😶

Whynosnowyet · 03/02/2020 14:25

ManonBlackbeak were you in Liverpool?

SecretWitch · 03/02/2020 14:34

The day my dad died I spent the night with my mother. We were both overwhelmed and exhausted. I got up in the morning to find my mum in almost a cheerful state. I commented on this and my mum replied “ Your father came to our bedroom last night”. She said she woke up in the middle of the night to her room being lit by hundreds of sparkly lights. She said she felt no fear only peace. She believes my dad came to let her know he was alright.

This isn't supernatural at all, but it still gave me the creeps ...

A few months ago, for some reason, an old colleague of mine popped into my head. Haven't thought about her for years, and hadn't seen her since the early 90s when I left that particular job.

Anyhow, I googled her (as you do). She has a very distinctive name and so it didn't take long to find her. I didn't expect this at all! .

ManonBlackbeak · 03/02/2020 21:45

Not in Liverpool, no.

Snakelet · 03/02/2020 22:12

SallyOMalley blood and sand. Sounds like the plot line of a Tarantino film!

CakeandCoffeeQueen · 04/02/2020 09:20

There is thread like this in classics which is a really good read.

delilabell · 04/02/2020 18:36

@CakeandCoffeeQueen could you link it? I love a creepy thread

This is a strange thing that happened a few years after our DM passed away.

My sister called in the middle of the night absolutely frantic and crying that she had woken up to our DM standing at the end of her bed repeatedly telling her not to go to work the next day. My sister was so freaked out that we had to go and pick her up and bring her back to ours for the night.

The next day she didn't go into work and there was an armed burglary at the store she managed.

When I was about 14 I was in the house on my own (parents were out some do until midnight). I went to the kitchen to get myself a drink and there was a man staring over the garden wall into the kitchen at me. He must have seen that I could see him but he just kept staring. I remember almost having a heart attack with fear. 3 weeks later on Xmas eve the house we burgled and all the Xmas presents were taken.

Miljea · 06/02/2020 21:08

We were working in a room that was still being completed following a rebuilt after a huge fire. It was NHS so the managers didn't care that men in hi-viz and hard hats were walking around us as me and a workmate were being taught how to operate new equipment! - via a computer

This sat facing a wall on one side of an L shaped Formica topped bench attached to the walls; the three of us were facing our monitor when there was a crash.

A thin twisted steel concrete reinforcement rod had shot down through the false hanging ceiling, breaking the lightweight tile (obviously) and cracking the Formica bench top, 3 feet from us. Its top was still not visible up in the ceiling void space.

It would have killed someone had it hit them!

We rushed outside to see who had dropped it, but there was no one on the flat roof. Then back inside, a workman pulled the rod out, taking the broken tile down so we could look up and see the flat, unblemished underside of the concrete slab stretching in all directions, that made up the roof.....

Where had a pencil thick, rigid 6' reinforcing rod come from?

Miljea · 07/02/2020 22:14

Aaaand... wooo!

I killed the thread. In a supernatural way. Of course.

I hope I can manage to explain this thing that happens to me all the time that I can’t understand (well, say once every 2-4 months) that’s really creepy.

It started years ago where I would be in a busy place (town centre/ city/ supermarket type places)

I’d see someone (random stranger) who I would think “oh wow I thought that was [insert any person I’ve ever known name here] but it’s not”

Then without fail I would see the actual real person that I thought it was within 15-20 minutes.

Where it got to the point now, I see the random lookalike and will say to myself “ok that looks like Ben Fisher from school so that means I will see him soon” and sure enough I will see that person later on.

Different person every time.

Freaks me out every time. I’ve often wondered to myself Is it a sixth sense that I will bump into a past friend/ acquaintance. Or is it just pure weird coincidence.

FredWinnie · 08/02/2020 08:22

I apparently have, or had, a doppelganger.
This doppelganger was spotted three times over a thirty year period in three separate areas of the UK, by three different and unconnected people. Once in the Midlands; once in the South West and once in East Anglia.
It's been a long while since the last 'sighting', but the thought still haunts me even now.

HerRoyalFattyness · 08/02/2020 19:23

I had a couple of strange experiences just yesterday.

I have an extension cord with various chargers and plugs plugged in. I leave it plugged into the wall behind the computer chair and next to one of the sofas.

I took the kids to school yesterday morning and when I came home the plug had been unplugged and placed over the arm of the sofa. Hmm

Then when I went to pick the kids up I closed the living room door after checking the cats were separated. Ginger one in the living room, black one upstairs. I always do this as they fight if I'm not there. Little shits.
Anyway, I closed the door and shut the cats away before leaving the house.
When I came back the door had been opened and the ginger cat was sat on the stairs.
I would blame the black cat, as he can open doors, but I've changed the door handle so you have to lift it to open it to prevent him from doing that!

All keys are accounted for.
Nothing has happened today.

JustaScratch · 08/02/2020 23:54

I don't know about creepiest ever, but this one I've never quite figured out.

My mobile phone used to ring in the middle of the night from time to time. It was always the main office number from my work calling but it always stopped ringing just as I put my hand out to pick it up. Didn't matter whether I happened to be awake and grabbed it straight away, or whether I was slow and groggy, i never had the chance to answer it.

It was a fairly small office with just a security guard there overnight, and it was a personal mobile that wasn't listed on the company directory. Must have been a technical fault, I suppose. It was just very peculiar and in retrospect I'm glad I never answered!

Frosty26827 · 09/02/2020 00:11

Fred apparently I did too, years ago. The frightening thing was it was in the same city I live in and twice it was people that I actually worked with thought they had seen me. One actually came into work one morning and asked how I’d managed to get into work so quickly as they’d just passed me on the way in to work (they were driving and doppelgänger was walking). Both people were adamant it was me they saw and as I said I worked with them so they saw me on a daily basis!

FredWinnie · 09/02/2020 00:30

Frosty Your experience sounds very familiar to mine - this bit especially - Both people were adamant it was me they saw

In my case the people were adamant and added details. The third sighting I remember clearly. I was apparently in a street, on the previous Saturday, talking to some blonde bloke

Shock Nope. No I wasn't

ParkheadParadise · 09/02/2020 00:45

The night my dd died.
I was upstairs in bed when I heard her come in. I could feel the weight of her sitting down on the bed. She told me i know what your having (i was 7mths pregnant with dd2).
I got up to look for her, I thought she had gone back out.

In the morning i told DH she had been in the house during the night. I did try to phone her but got no answer.
When the police came to the house I had a horrible feeling something bad had happened. Later on they took statements from us. I told them she had been here during the night. I was amendment she was here.
It was several days later they told me it wasn't possible, they had cctv footage of her.
I found it really hard to believe, it felt so real.
4yrs on I still can't understand what happened that night.

Miljea · 09/02/2020 01:01

parkhead Gosh. I don't know what to say. But thanks for sharing that.

SunshineAngel · 09/02/2020 01:06

This is nothing really compared to others I've seen on here..

But we went to Ireland on holiday about 15 years ago, and my mum decided to look for her grandad's grave, which she'd never seen, while we were there. We didn't have a great deal to go on, other than the general area. Didn't even know which church it would be at. We went to four churches, hunting round for ages, and found nothing.

We got to the fifth church (with a couple more still to try in the radius we'd set) and we walked in through the back, so couldn't see any writing on any of the gravestones.

Immediately, I just knew which one it was. I said thank goodness for that, I was getting fed up of graveyards, and walked towards a grave near the middle of the graveyard. My mum said don't be silly, you can't see it. I'll give you £1,000 if that's right. It was.

Now, okay, it might be a complete coincidence. But I just "knew". I don't know how, nobody had spoken to me or anything. But it would have to be a pretty big coincidence, as there were a few hundred graves there, and we'd had a list of 9 churches to try.

There have been a couple of similar things since that, where I just suddenly "know" things, and can't really explain why. Nothing major.

SunshineAngel · 09/02/2020 01:08

Oh, and no, my mum never did give me £1,000 haha.

OlaEliza · 09/02/2020 03:48

@HalfSquareTriangle Apparently some sewing scissors are shaped like storks because they were originally umbilical cord clamps or cutters and were appropriated by midwives who would bring their sewing along for long waits.

FredMerc · 09/02/2020 09:44

HalfSquareTriangle and OlaEliza

I was going to say that nurses used to engrave their name on the blades of their scissors. I have a pair from during the war as a nurse gave them to a soldier (my friends GD) they have her name on them. So a midwife would make sense.
