IBS? But no pain

I am definitely not a poo troll, but have changed my name as it's a slightly embarrassing topic!

I have been suffering an awful lot to the point where I actually dread having to go to the toilet. I either have extremely loose stools or I'm extremely constipated- to the point where there is actually some blood and I'm there for over half an hour. I had originally put it down to my diet (which in all honesty isn't great, a lot of carbs and sugar) but have made a real effort over the last few weeks to improve it, but haven't noticed any difference.

The only thing I can think may be wrong is IBS, but I don't have any pain in my stomach, which seems to be one of the main symptoms. I've been putting off going to the doctor because I'm terrified they'll ask for a sample. Does anyone have any experience of IBS without any painful symptoms? I've also out on a but of weight and I'm wondering whether this is related. Can it be treated or is it something I'll continue to suffer with forever?

Go and see the GP. They are very well use to dealing with bowel issues, nothing to be embarassed about.
