Wedding dresses for petite bride

I hope someone here can give me some good ideas. My son is getting married and his fiancee lives abroad. She wants me to look out for some good sites for wedding dresses. She's 5'1" and size 8. A lot of the dresses I've seen say the model is 5'10" and I know the dresses will swamp her.

She's not going to spend a fortune - upper limit is around £400 - and I've suggested she looks out for bridesmaid dresses (for herself) as well as wedding dresses, though she does want white/ivory. She's not after a huge wedding dress. I love the Ghost dresses and think they're the sort of thing she's after, but they are just too long for her.

I'd love some ideas for sites if anyone was in the same position. She won't be in the UK for a few months so can't go to local shops.

She has said her sister is shorter than her and bought her dress in the US and got it altered in their home country, so that must be possible. My son's already taken two dresses over to her which didn't fit well and she's sold on at a good profit so obviously others there have the same problem!

@HollowTalk if she isn't able to go to bridal stores / fairs to try on then it sounds like you're going to have to look online at high street stores like Monsoon / Debenhams, even Dorothy Perkins have a bridal range.

I don't understand a previous poster's issue with the word "petite" - this is the range for women under 5'3" and the term is widely used We know we're short

Thanks, @CurbsideProphet, I have sent links to all the high street stores and she's seen a few she likes. She'd look good in anything so as long as it fits, she'll be fine! Yeah, I agree about petite!

Has she tried Monsoon? Some of their dresses may work.

I am a similar height and size - I had a beautiful midi skirt from Needle and Thread for my wedding. Some of their styles are a bit frou-frou but there are good options there too.
