Anyone up for "freezer February"?

So today DH and I did an inventory of our freezers to find we have 19 (yes 19) salmon fillets and 3 bags of peas amongst many, many other things. So we've set ourselves a challenge of eating through our freezer in February.

Anyone care to join me?

To start I'll put pictures of our inventory and check in regularly to update. I'm sure there'll be some odd meal combos along the way!

To start, tomorrow's lunch is homemade chicken soup and frozen bread rolls. I made the chicken soup a few months ago from fresh and froze a large batch (not on the inventory as I'd already decided to use it up). God only knows how old the bread rolls are.

Due to the stock take I've thrown away 1 pork chop and 12 bread rolls due to freezer burn.

And dinner tomorrow will use up the whole chicken (currently defrosting), some of the broccoli and cauliflower and carrots as I'm making a roast dinner.

We're having a roast dinner comprising of frozen roast beef with frozen leftover gravy, frozen leftover carrot and swede and red cabbage , all from Christmas, only having to prep some potatoes now and all sorted!

That's impressive rocking.

The soup was lovely. The bread rolls were definitely a bit past it.

DH and I have just debated whether the phrase is "past it" or "passed it". Past it won. Rocking my Sunday nights!

Tonight was Jamie Oliver's easy sausage carbonara. It only uses 3 sausages but as I had to defrost the whole pack I made double the sausage balls and have kept some for later in the week. 2 meals out the freezer, one back in!

Phrase is definitely “past it” !

Love this thread and remember previous similar ones. I have already been doing this since New Year, to the extent that I now only have several boxes of unidentifiable mush left. Freezer roulette commences ... !

ElloBrian we call that "brown surprise" we play accompaniment roulette, so make rice, pasta, potato etc then see if we guessed the right one! Chilli pasta isn't so bad Wink

I've just been invited to a bring and share brunch this weekend, so that's all the sausages used up!

Heh! I suspect at least one of them is apple sauce so if I played your game dinner could be v disappointing ...
