What does your cleaner do?

I've arranged for a cleaner to come into the house for a couple of hours every week, around 4 hours. Just wondering what would be reasonable to expect her to get through? I'd love if she could clean the 2 en suites and give the open plan living area a dust, Hoover and mop

My cleaner does everything. Wipes windows, cupboard/wardrobe doors, changes bedding, cleans all surfaces and if she has time, does the ironing.

I love her so much

@dwum sounds amazing, I should have done this sooner. How long is yours there for per week to get through all that?

It's up to you really what you want her to do and if she can meet your expectations.

I used to clean for someone who paid me 11.50/hr. I usually spent 1.5 hours ironing 10-15 items and 1.5 hours cleaning a kitchen what wasn't that dirty to be honest. She was happy with my work and willing to pay me that amount for those hours.

Mine comes 3hrs and cleans the whole 3 bed house, hoovers, mops, surfaces etc. Sometimes a bit of ironing or windows if we ask.

Mine comes 2 hours every week and she alternates upstairs and downstairs (although she does the bathroom every week). She dusts, wipes the windows, mirrors and skirting boards, hoovers, hoovers any cobwebs from the ceilings, cleans the bathroom, wipes down the kitchen. And when we finally tear up the kitchen carpet she'll mop that.

We love her so much Grin

Wow they do so much more than I expected in such a short space of time Smile

A couple of hours or 4 hours? With a tidy house I would expect a cleaner in 2-3 hours to be able to hoover through, sweep and mop all other floor surfaces, clean bathrooms and kitchen surfaces..time dependent on number of bathrooms.

happytoday73 · 01/02/2020 21:01

They do more because the house is tidy and don't get distracted by other things like you would in your own house

LowcaAndroidow · 01/02/2020 21:08

Mine comes for 2 hours and cleans the kitchen, hoovers/dusts living room, cleans the downstairs toilet, mops the hall, hoovers stairs and landing, cleans bathroom and hoovers two bedrooms.

Houseyhousey · 01/02/2020 21:44

Same as @LowcaAndroidow but 3 beds.

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 01/02/2020 21:56

@happytoday73 I have a toddler, my house is never tidy Sad plus we have 5 bedrooms. Tbf we're going to discuss hours with our cleaner because now she's got on top of all the worst of the dusting, she's getting everything done in just over an hour so we might switch what we do.

I have a four bed and four reception plus kitchen and three full baths plus loo. Cleaner comes four hours a week. She vacuums the house bar bedrooms (teens and not much floor visible and one is a guest room), steam cleans any hard floors (kitchen/hall/three of the receptions). Cleans fireplace, the sofa (removing cushions etc). Dusts. Deep cleans two of the bathrooms (rotates the others). Cleans kitchen (but does not empty dishwasher). Cleans porch area. She must also dust the shutters on the windows but probably only every few weeks. No laundry.
Go through the house and tell her what you need doing. She will tell you if she can get it done in the time and if not may do a deeper clean of some rooms and rotate.
