Just made it from scratch for the first time ever. Why have I never done this before?
Took my plain old sausage and mash to a whole new level.
Anything else I've been missing out on?

I made it from scratch years ago using Delia's methods. I remember Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder. Nice but a faff.

I’d also say that the stockpots give a more home-made taste than the cubes.
Just my opinion, if you love stock cubes feel free to ignore!

I prefer onion sauce with sausage and mash. In fact, I like a little bit of sausage & mash with a bucket of onion sauce!

I made this the other day as I was on leave from work so I thought I'd make my own onion gravy instead of dissolving granules in hot water.

It turned out a very unappetizing light brown (not the dark brown of granules) and DD said she prefers the granules and begged me not to make it again. 🙄

I make mine by softening and browning chopped onions in one oz butter, then add an oz of flour making a roux, then blend in a pint of milk and simmer until the consistency of double cream.
