What am I doing wrong?

I've been a bit better off financially lately and so been expanding my wardrobe a bit. Been buying a lot from places like Seasalt, White Stuff etc. More costly than I could previously afford, so pretty high end to me (£50+for a jumper etc) , though I understand not to anyone else. All the items wash really well, keep their shape.. But for the price paid they bobble atrociously.. And even though I debobble it really does spoil them. What am I doing wrong? Or is it just the nature of garments these days? Perhaps I am foolish to expect higher quality for the price paid?

Try washing them inside out. Are they tumble dried?

I do. Washed inside out on wool cycle with detergent for delicates. No tumble drying.

You don't carry a shoulder bag, do you? That tends to destroy my woollens faster than anything - basically, anything that rubs can cause bobbles: so if you swing your arms as you walk, or anything like that, can cause damage.

I have the same problem with white stuff and fat face. I love their clothes and the quality but they bobble! I wash them so carefully on wool cycle with special detergent. I'm wondering if it's because they use more natural materials like real wool? Maybe man made fibres are less likely to bobble?

I don't think there's any correlation between cost and bobbling. A couple of years ago I bought a cheap Asda jumper for about £15 and another one from Oasis for about £50 and the Asda one lasted much better and the Oasis one just looked really tatty, quite quickly.

Both had been worn about the same amount of times and washed at the same time (I save my woollens up and put them in the hand wash programme in the machine every week or two).

I do, but I'm always wearing a jacket too.. Would it still damage it?

And they bobble on places like under the arms too.
