How to thank him for this?

I’ve had a pulmonary embolism before and had no symptoms.
This was my second one and I had a sudden chest pain and could barely breathe at all. This was right at the end of work as I was packing away for the day and was just me and my manager left in the office.
He sat me down, held my hand, and called 999. Handles the situation perfectly. He offered to run and get me some water but I said please can you stay here because I don’t want to die alone. HOW DRAMATIC AND EMBARRASSING.
Anyway he rode with me to the hospital until DM got there and was just an overall gem.
I’m back in work on Thursday and have minimal contact really since. I will obviously get a thank you card for him although not really sure what to write in it, and I don’t think a gift is appropriate but my friend said maybe just buy a box of heroes because he was my hero!! Any thoughts on what I can write in the card or any little token gift other than the chocolates? Or does that sounds about right? Mumsnet is the best for stuff like this because I’m useless!

I think a card saying how much you appreciated his help would be fine. Don't overthink it - if you were thanking him f2f what would you say? Write that Wink

Card is lovely he'll really appreciate it. Maybe take in a nice jar of coffee and some decent biscuits for him and the rest of your team to enjoy?
