Spoilt my weight loss?

I have been trying to lose some weight for the last few weeks.

I've gotten really lazy and not been as active, eaten a lot of crap, especially over Christmas, and gained a stone.

I have lost half a stone in three weeks and have been quite proud that I've managed to cut out the crap food and exercise and it's slowly coming off. I've allowed myself the odd treat but not gone overboard.

Anyway today for some unknown reason I have scoffed a full packet of ginger nuts. And
Now I feel shit.

If I go back to back being stricter tomorrow will I manage to avoid putting pounds back on?

I don't know what the point of this thread is,
Maybe for someone to tell me it's
Not that bad....... Grin

It's a set back, simply that. Don't feel you are a failure of you've spoilt your diet. Put it behind you, carry on with the rest of the day eating healthy, and tomorrow is another day.

breakfast, lunch and dinner for the week is 21 meals as long as you keep wanting and trying to lose weight you will.
would you throw 21 roses away if 1 was wilted?

@6demandingchildren that is a very good way of looking at it!

I'm a stone or two down the road from you after a decade of disordered eating. Don't restrict too hard if you can help it. Compensating with exercise or harsher diet is OK as a once off but an awful habit to get into and a bad mindset. These days just do happen. Just eat a balanced, veggie heavy meal when you're next hungry, drinks lots of water. Forgive yourself. And then tomorrow is a new day Flowers

Forgive yourself, you obviously needed them Cake and there is no way a packet of biscuits will put that 1/2 stone back on.

I’m doing the same after ignoring my post children extra 2 stone over the last 10 years. Maybe allow yourself a whole day a week where you just eat what you want? It’s not easy though so don’t punish yourself Flowers

Thanks guys this is really helping me Smile

To be fair apart from biscuits I'd only had water melon and yoghurt for breakfast, and homemade soup for dinner (literally just blended butternut squash and red pepper) so it's not like it's been a horrendous day I just got a taste for biscuits and couldn't stop myself Grin

That might be the reason you felt desperate for sugary food, OP - you’d hardly had any protein all day.

More than likely! I've been on the go a lot and just grabbed what I could eat quickly I will definitely be a eating a filling healthy tea!

Well done on your loss so far...
Like others have said, draw a line under it, because its done now.
Maybe think about why you did it (wanted something sweet, bored, hungry) and plan for if it happens again?
Good luck

Just adding a boiled egg or two can make a difference to carb cravings. I try to have some ready hard-boiled in case I’m really rushing in the morning. Definitely makes a difference for me.

A 250g packet of ginger nuts is about 1400 calories.

You need to eat 3500 extra calories to put on a pound of fat.

You might put on some weight the next time you step on the scales but it'll be water weight.

Don't use it as an excuse to give up.

Well done.
My PT always tells me that if you get a flat tyre you wouldn’t go and slash the others too! It’s an analogy for not continuing to self sabotage Grin

Think long term, you are bound to have a few blips. At the same time something like biscuits can be too moreish when you are restricting what you eat. If you want to allow something sweet occasionally then you are better off having a dessert that you eat up and don't have leftovers to tempt you. Plus if you eat your dessert after a meal you won't be hungry as you might after one biscuit.

I get biscuits so they last and in theory I should only have a couple but I clearly don't have the will power Grin

Will definitely be rethinking how to have the odd treat without demolishing ridiculous amounts ha ha

I’ve lost 11lb this month. Had a day off yesterday, drank too much & it has spilled over into today & ive been pretty hideous & I feel awful. I will be annoyed as I’ll have probably put a pound or 2 on when I weigh but I’m trying to think long term rather than quick loss. Start again tomorrow. I think as long as healthy eating out weighs unhealthy over all we will get there. Good luck.

They taste better when you are on a diet.

My diets (yes I’ve tried several!) don’t fail when I have a blip one day. My diets fail when I let that one blip bring the whole thing to a stop! It’s how you carry on today and tomorrow that matters.

Thank you you lovely lot!

Weighed myself this morning and it was a couple of ounces less since I lasted weighed so I have my motivation back knowing I've pretty much stayed on track weight wise 😅
