Do you recommend it? Im absolutely in love with how they look but not sure just how efficient they are. I tried searching but can’t find any reviews . I won’t be using it regularly as it’s for a 2nd home.

Yes, I have two; I liked the one in our holiday home so much that when I had a new kitchen at home I ordered one for here too, just with a slightly different configuration. It's ivory with nickel handles and it looks great I think.

It works really well for everything I want it to do. As you know, it's a basic old-fashioned design, which means there's no complicated electronics to go wrong, but neither does it have a self-cleaning oven or similar. And I have gas rings which need cleaning, so more work than a ceramic hob. None of that bothers me though. I get the oven professionally cleaned once a year too.

Incidentally, the shop that sold me the Lacanche told me that if you're in that part of France you can contact the factory in advance and book a tour, and as we happened to be driving through that area, so we took the opportunity and it was so interesting. It was a family business, they really welcomed us and they also have a museum of range cookers through the ages.

Anything else you'd like to know OP, just ask Smile

Love mine... electric/gas range... A workhorse for 20 years - i also have it professionally cleaned once a year

The lady we bought our house from left one. We love it but it has nothing fancy, just very study and lovely to look at. There is one distributor in the uk and they came and serviced ours recently. It is 20 years old and a teenager according to them. They go on forever! We also have ours cleaned every year, the poor man who did it last nearly fainted when he saw it, took him hours Blush he said it was like an industrial cooker.

Thank you all so much! That’s very helpful!

Hearing how long they last is really reassuring.

That’s really great with the maintenance and cleaning, we have a wolf range and their service is not the best.

DH and DS are against getting one as they think they are difficult to use. They both like to cook their late night snacks. so they are concerned they’d need me to start it every time they’d want to cook something.

We like the Cluny but I prefer the classic cooker as I like the copper trims.

I have the Cluny Classic in English Cream it IS a beauty and has served me very very well for two decades (and continues to do so!)

Hi @queenofarles, we are glad to hear you are interested in getting one of our Lacanche cookers.

Our cookers are all A rated ovens, so you can be assured that we are very efficient. They are also very easy to use. But if you are struggling a member of our team will be happy to come to your house and give you and your family a walk through of your cooker and how to use it.

You might be interested to know that we do a classic Cluny as well, so you could have a Classic Cluny with a Copper trim and whatever colour enamel you wish, we have 30 colours to chose from.

Feel free to look at our website, where you can build your own cooker to see what it might look like: www.lacanche.co.uk/cluny/ or you can call our sales team on 01202 733011 and we will be happy to speak to you.

OP did you go for a Lacanche in the end? I've got one. I absolutely LOVE it. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever owned. They are so well built, stunning to look at, work like a dream. I am a real cook - not a professional one, but I cook a lot, from scratch, and use it daily. It is worth every pricey penny I spent, and I've advised DH in no uncertain terms that if we ever move to another house, we'll be buying another one Grin
