Wedding bar- would you be disappointed?

We are getting married in the summer and currently stocking up for our wedding bar. We will have plenty of the basics:

Champagne
Red wine
White wine
Vodka
A couple of gins
A spiced rum
A couple of whiskeys
Malibu (close relative loves it!)
A barrel of real ale from a local brewery
Bottles of lager and craft lager
Cider
Fruit ciders
Pimms if its hot

I'm only dealing with the alcohol bit of this for now- there will be plenty of mixers and non alcoholic options too. Bar will be stocked with fruit and ice.

What have I missed? If you went up to that bar would there be something you are happy drinking?

I really like a drink and that would do me Smile

mynameiscalypso · 31/01/2020 21:34

Honestly, that sounds loads. When we got married, we had wine, champagne and beer available all the time and then we had one cocktail available (plus soft drinks). I don't think people expect a full bar if there's not an actual bar in the venue if you know what I mean.

Sounds very generous and lovely selection where and when? 😉

I’d add a normal (probably light) rum, brandy and maybe sherry.

PuppyMonkey · 31/01/2020 21:37

Depends what white wine you have for me. Grin

It’s not all the same you know.

avocuddl · 31/01/2020 21:38

Sounds perfect and just like what we had on the bar!! Be prepared for there to be loads leftover!! We were still drinking out wedding wine a year later!

avocuddl · 31/01/2020 21:39

Oh yes, maybe add a brandy

chipsandgin · 31/01/2020 21:40

Plenty there I’d be happy drinking, sounds lovely! Having worked a few weddings I’d say make sure you have twice as much ice as you think you’ll need. Also, not necessary but I love a Rose wine in the summer & Aperol Spritzes are lovely, can be made with fairly cheap fizz (you just need Prosecco, soda water & Aperol with lots of ice & a slice of orange!). Tbh though what you have already covers most of the bases, I’m sure your guests will love it!

crustycrab · 31/01/2020 21:41

More gin. I don't drink it but lots do. A recent free bar wedding we went to ran out and they had a company in running the bar

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 21:42

Ok a brandy and a light rum. Couple of wines to choose from. We have very few people over the age of 45 coming and none of them are known sherry drinkers so I think I might safely be able to skip that Grin

Another saying more gin. It’s hugely popular, especially if people were drinking wine with food and want to swap for the party.

A wedding I went to had 10 bottles of gin and they still ran out (around 100 people at the wedding).

PuppyMonkey · 31/01/2020 21:44

To reiterate, if you only had Sauvignon Blanc I’d be very disappointed.

I’m not a red wine fan, but I imagine the situation would be similar for them.

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 21:44

Great advice here! Will make sure gin is well stocked and there is enough ice.

Any left over booze will not go to waste!!

Ginger1982 · 31/01/2020 21:45

Ooh, maybe a Baileys? But seriously, thar sounds plenty.

Honeyroar · 31/01/2020 21:45

Sounds more than enough of a selection - as long as there is enough for the no of guests.

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 21:55

Oh I do love a baileys!! That's actually made me realise that I haven't really thought about what I want to drink on the day. I've got DPs faves in there but need to think about my own.

OP posts:
Oly4 · 31/01/2020 21:55

Sounds great but I also agree that people will drink wine then swap to gin or vodka. Have loads!

Impatientwino · 31/01/2020 21:58

We've just had an invitation today to a friends wedding. I'm hoping it's to yours Smile Sounds lovely!

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 22:03

Sorry! Invitations are not out yet.

I'm glad we seem to be getting this right! Havent had any disappointed customers to my imaginary MN bar yet (well perhaps puppymonkey if I get the wine choice wrong Grin )

Letsnotusemyname · 31/01/2020 22:06

Guinness, crisps and nuts!

Geneshish · 31/01/2020 22:08

Ah I did wonder about Guinness but doesn't it taste awful out of a can? And not worth getting a keg in for the very minimal (if any) number of guests who are likely to drink it

OP posts:
ItFigures · 31/01/2020 22:08

The bar sounds lovely OP. Agree with other posters - gin is very popular so maybe worth getting a few more bottles. There’s lovely flavoured gins out there.

Honeyroar · 31/01/2020 22:10

Ooh yes, Baileys for with the coffee!

BigFatLiar · 31/01/2020 22:11

Depends how many you're inviting (male/female). For a small group of friends should be enough if its a big do...
Will a barrel of beer be enough (how many men) Is it a barrel (288 pints) or a keg (62 pints)?
Lager?
Seems lots and generous.
Going to have a fun time afterwards polishung off the leftover booze?

villamariavintrapp · 31/01/2020 22:12

Something for shots? Tequila? Or maybe better not if you don't want people getting that drunk?!
