Shampoo bars

Am I the only person who finds shampoo bars terrible? They make my hair sticky and greasy. I'm rinsing well and have used foamie brand and lush ones but they are both bad. What have I done wrong?

I have a shampoo bar and conditioner bar set from M&S which I think works great. Hair looks cleaner and shinier than before. Maybe it's the brand or recipe?

Sontagsleere · 31/01/2020 21:31

Oh Chikitiki is the grapefruit one from M&S? I bought it reduced at Christmas but haven't tried it yet!

I have found this with some shampoo bars, but not Faith in Nature.

Yanbu op, I never found one that I liked, my hair just never felt clean.

I've given up on them and now re-use an old plastic shampoo bottle over and over by refilling it at a shop. Works well for me. I only wash my hair twice a week so the bottle lasts ages too. Can you find somewhere near you that does shampoo refills?

Nope. I loved the old school Cosmetics to Go ones but the Lush ones aren’t that good. Sensitive scalp ones make me itch. Discovered Simple shampoo and conditioner.

I am the same, I tried a few from different small organic brands and it never agreed with me. My hairdresser was actually weirded out by my hair's texture, it had a "soapy" feeling to it even though I rinsed with vinegar as recommended. It took me a few washes to get rid of if fully. I went back to liquid shampoo, not sure what I did wrong!

Fifthtimelucky · 31/01/2020 21:42

I really like my Lush shampoo (can't remember what it's called, but it's blue). I don't like the conditioner at all though.

GeePipe · 31/01/2020 21:44

Im on the hunt for a good shampoo bar that doesnt give me a waxy feel or makes my hair dull and dry like straw. I dont want to try lush as i dont want sls but theres one on facebook called conchus soap i want to try they sound fab.

Twistybottomsclickytops · 31/01/2020 21:48

I had exactly the same. Sticky awful hair. And I used the cider vinegar rinse etc etc but nothing worked (and I was getting through vinegar bottles much faster than if I'd just used shampoo bottles).

I'm back to regular shampoo now, having tried 3 different bars, but may try a couple more now that my hair has recovered... will keep an eye on this for recommendations!

I love shampoo bars but I think they work well because i live in a soft water area, when I took one on holiday abroad my hair was dreadful.

MoveConfused · 31/01/2020 21:54

I’ve recently tried Earthkind shampoo bars from Holland and Barrett and they’ve been just as good as my regular shampoo. No greasiness or stickiness. Like the fragrance too. Was pleasantly surprised!

This is the nuts. Bought it in July, it finally died on me this morning. I have very long very thick wavy hair that’s never felt cleaner, softer or shinier and I’ll never be without it.

Oliphantitus · 31/01/2020 21:59

I use Oliva, it is technically a soap but made only from olive oil. I am on a Facebook page called plasticsnotfantastic and there are loads of recommendation for different kinds of bars for different hair. Mine is dry and curly and another friend has the same hair and likes Oliva too.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 31/01/2020 22:02

I use these and they are fab, no issues at all.
