Driving Licence Query

My DC will be 17 soon. It says you can apply for your licence up to 3 months before your birthday. You have to renew the photocard every 10 years. Does anyone know if the expiry date will be from the date of application or the date of her 17th birthday.

The expiry is likely to change anyway as by the time she is 27 she probably would have changed address etc.
