Dry January argument.

Every year my husband and I have a running bet. Every january he tries dry January and we have the bet that if he manages I buy him a curry. If he doesn't, the curry is on him.

I have won the curry every year.

This year he has been incredibly good all January and hasn't had a single drop. Until this evening. He had a nip of whisky at 6.

He insists though that he has completed dry January but I'm adamant he hasn't because it isn't midnight...

Do I let him off or stick rigidly to the rules?

Aw amazing achievement , buy him a curry !

BeeFarseer · 31/01/2020 18:37

Oh, he's fucked himself over at the last minute. Grin

Ask him what today's date is. It's still January.

CalleighDoodle · 31/01/2020 18:39

No. He gets no curry bought for him. He had whisky.

user14928465 · 31/01/2020 18:39

It's still January.

SquigglePigs · 31/01/2020 18:39

Technically you're right but I'd probably let him off given how close he's got!

SpaceSharkTea · 31/01/2020 18:43

I agree - buy him a curry! He has obviously had to resist temptation multiple times seeing as he's never managed it before.

Come to a compromise maybe? You buy the curry if he buys the wine? You may as well both drink if you're counting dry jan as over in some form

CalleighDoodle · 31/01/2020 18:44

Or if youre feeling really generous, if his last drink was 6pm on the 31st of December, ill allow it as a win.

Wishforsnow · 31/01/2020 18:46

Just buy a curry and stop being petty

SouthernComforts · 31/01/2020 18:47

I'm doing dry Jan for the first time and won't be having a drink tonight as it's still Jan.

Delatron · 31/01/2020 18:53

Oh just buy him a curry. He’s done really well and it’s Feb tomorrow

Queenoftheashes · 31/01/2020 19:01

I’d probably accept 28 days as a month

Queenoftheashes · 31/01/2020 19:02

Although I’m not allowing myself an end to Veganuary until after midnight

Dozer · 31/01/2020 19:02

No, it’s still January. He lost the bet, again.
