DBS checks as the employer?

We are starting a company that requires DBS checks forI have done many DBS checks as an employee but have no idea about the logistics as the employer.
I know I use an umberella company to conduct the DBS checks as we ar employing less than 100 people. Do I just give them the details and they log on and do it, or do I supervise the staff doing it? They are sixthformers and probably haven't had one before?
Any advice much appreciated.

I do them at work for our employees. We see all their documents and take copies for their files and then I complete the DBS with the information provided on their application form.
Once this is done they get an email so they can track their own DBS and join to the update service if they wish.
I have also had one done as a volunteer and I sat next to the person completing it and gave the answers and showed my documents at the same time.

Probably best off supervising really plus you will have to put in the card details to pay I expect, plus its always good to check the input just in case.

Yes we will need to pay. I need to consider the logistics of being with them as they do it as we have no premises for the business and I don't want a bunch of teens in my house! I may have to take the details and do without them.
