Avoid the gilford and campernile in Hull. There's a Britannia hotel right at the station which is ok. There's a Hilton up the road but I've never stayed there, depends on your budget.

Not familiar with middleboro though sorry

I'd say the best hotel near Hull station is Hilton hotel. There is one right outside the station but I don't think it's the best. There is also an ibis hotel nearby that's reasonable.

There’s a new Hilton near the station in Hull which is a bit more upmarket. Just a short walk from the station. Holiday inn marina is a little further away but walkable. Definitely avoid the Gilson and Campanile. There’s also an ibis. Looks ok from outside, but it’s near the red light area so draw your own conclusions on the clientele.

Definitely avoid Gilson!!

Boro: Holiday Inn Express, Premier Inn and Jurys all close, and heading in the better direction - behind the station is pretty rough.....

Disfordarkchocolate · 31/01/2020 12:08

I stayed in the big hotel at the station in Hull and it was fine, very convenient the next day for a bus etc. The night before I was in the Ibis, I asked to move. The lift smelled of sick and lager, the room of cigarette smoke and I was the only woman at breakfast. Not a pleasant stay.

Jury's in Middlesbrough is under 5 min walk from the station

Thanks, everyone! Exactly the sort of information I wanted. I will have a look on booking.com.

When DD was at uni in Hull we always stayed at the Holiday Inn. Right on the marina/waterside.

Cucumber..was that the old thistle hotel?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 01/02/2020 00:54

Be aware that Middlesbrough station is in the red light district, so if you arrive after dark, be careful! It's "rough" round there all the time, but better during the day cos it's near the town centre.

Been in Canada for the last 9 years. I’m from Hull originally. Trying to work out where the Gilson is?

CinderEmma · 01/02/2020 08:33

It's on the corner of Anlaby road

QforCucumber · 01/02/2020 15:26

dowser yes its had a full refurb, even though we live down the road we stayed there the night of our wedding reception (after getting married abroad) their king suite was fab and only £150 for the night! Wouldn't have known we were in the town centre!

wheresmyhairytoe · 01/02/2020 15:56

In Hull the Hilton or Station Hotel. Do not go to the Ibis, Campanile or Gilson.
