How long for ear piercing to close up?

Dd (10) got her ears pierced in May and despite going to a well recommended piercing place and taking good care of them, one ear never healed properly and has actually stretched quite a bit. So, instead of risking her ear lobe splitting we've decided to let the holes close up and try again next year. I'm just guessing that a year will be long enough though. Does anyone know much about piercings?

My DD (9) had hers done just over a year ago but one side just wouldn't heal and it was causing lots of tears and stress as school insisted they were totally removed three times a week for pe. We decided to let them heal.
The holes are now totally closed, I would say it took a couple of months before the good side healed over, and more or less instant for the bad side.
They still look as if they are pierced though. The marks where the holes were haven't changed.

That's good to know that two months closed the holes over, hopefully a year will give us a good basis to try again especially as I suspect the stretched hole will take a bit longer. Her ears will be bigger too which will make a difference!
