Healthy low-fat low-sugar things to put on crackers/toast? Bored shitless with cottage cheese and houmous!

Sorry, it's a dead boring thread! I love wholemeal crackers and crispbreads for lunch (the Milton multigrain crackers are particularly gorgeous) but am lacking inspiration on toppings - pre-diet, I used to eat a lot of cheese Sad

now I'm eating mostly cottage cheese or houmous, and getting pretty fed up with it! Any ideas for me?

Ooh guacamole, I hadn't thought of that :) I could make my own.

I like ham, turkey etc but it's a bit flat and dry on a cracker. Was thinking more of spreadable things...I miss cheese spread!

Surely hummus is as fattening as cheese?

iklboo · 30/01/2020 19:03

You can get low fat spreadable cheese - primula, Philadelphia, Laughing Cow, Go Go, Dairylea & Seriously Spreadable all do tasty low fat versions.

Strawberrycreamsundae · 30/01/2020 19:06

Coronation Chicken made with low fat Mayo and curry paste
Marmite and cucumber
Tomato and cream cheese (low fat) whizzed up together with a smidgeon of mayo or salad cream, chopped chives and sprinkle of paprika is lush
Tapenade

You can make your own low fat pate as well. Have a quick google for some easy recipes.

doadeer · 30/01/2020 19:17

Make a salsa with chopped tomatoes, either coriander or basil, salt, oilve oil, lime juice and a bit of mozerella or feta crumbled.

Red lentil pate with sun-dried tomatoes (so easy to make)
Chickpea "tuna", delicious vegan tuna substitute, again so easy to make

FruityWidow · 30/01/2020 19:41

Beetroot humus or pea and mint.
Butternut squash mash

lazylinguist · 30/01/2020 19:43

Hummus and guacamole really aren't low in fat though.

  • Mashed avocado and crispy bacon bits
  • Tuna & sweetcorn with light mayo
  • Carrot mash (a local deli does this, not entirely sure of the recipe but it looks like carrots cooked until very soft and then pureed with lemon juice, herbs and tiny bit of yoghurt/sour cream)
  • Salsa verde with sliced ham/meat
  • Liptauer. This is a bavarian cheese spread that can be made using low fat cottage cheese or yoghurt as the base. Uses paprika, chopped pickles, chives and various spices to give it lots more flavour than plain cheese! Many recipes online
Thislittlefinger · 30/01/2020 19:48

Chopped up tomato, onion and lettuce pinch of salt and dab of mayo.

Topbird29 · 30/01/2020 19:49

I sometimes have philidelphia with a bit of ham or smoked salmon on top to make it more interesting. Or can make your own pate if whizz together some smoked mackerel and cream cheese.

PastelRainbows · 30/01/2020 19:50

Almost forgot thinly sliced radishes with a sprinkle of sea salt!
