I've been ill, so not been able to use the food I bought at the start of the week. I have stir fry veg mix, and fresh noodles both past the use by dates. Should I chuck them?

I would if youve been ill. Are the veg wet and brown looking. Hope youre feeling better.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 30/01/2020 18:22

Thanks, maybe I will get rid, such a shame to waste food as well.

The veg looks fine, not sure about wet.

If it's not meat and it looks / smells OK then I'd use it.

Are the noodles use by or best before?

OneHanded · 30/01/2020 19:31

Sniff Test and poke for sliminess. This is why we waste sooooo much food unnecessarily!

ffswhatnext · 30/01/2020 19:34

If the veg looks fresh and isn't slimy or changing colour I would eat.

Off pasta has a weird smell and texture to it.

Spam88 · 30/01/2020 19:36

Bean sprouts look pretty grim when they're off so should be easy enough to tell.

Swishswish26 · 30/01/2020 19:38

Please don’t risk eating bean sprouts that are out of date. They are a surprising cause of food poisoning. Sorry not got a link but can google it.

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 31/01/2020 07:25

No bean sprouts in it. I didn't chance it. It is a shame but not intentional. I barely ever waste food as there is only me and I tend to eat what I make.
