DS bit off and swallowed a bit of a silicon worm- will stomach acid dissolve it or blocked bowel?

DS(11) has just reliably informed me that he was merrily chewing on the end of a silicon wormy thing, it broke off and he just carried on chewing on it and swallowed it! Then panicked and came and told me. The price is about 1/2 cm diameter and he says he thinks the piece was 2cm. It's.solid silicon.

He says his science knowledge (yr 7 Hmm) tells him his stomach acid will dissolve it. Is he right or is will he be in A&E in 3 days with a blocked bowel?!

Please tell us his chances Shock

Because it is worm shaped, it is highly unlikely that it will get stuck. I’d get him to inspect his poo for the next few days to try to spot it.

Dollywilde · 29/01/2020 22:01

Yeah, I’d be pretty certain it’ll just pass through him given size/shape.

Fabulous. He has form for this. We were looking for a Lego head for a few days once when he was little Confused

Thanks Grin

I was going to say that that would be an interesting nappy but thankfully you won't even be presented with the results of his latest stunt.

It won’t dissolve, it will pass through.
