In real terms ... what will we lose and what will we gain? How will it affect the average person?

Gain: blue passports, some high tech.
Losses: most SMEs who import or export, farming especially livestock, fishing, financial services, employees' rights, fuel supply security, food safety, right to work and reside in the EU, and loads of stuff we'll only miss when it's gone.
