Guest bathroom weirdness

I've just been invited back to stay for a couple of nights with outlying relatives, my cousin and her husband. I went to stay for the first time last year and there was some weirdness going on.

They're a married couple in their early 60s, apparently very civilised and well-travelled and used to having guests. They have a nice big house. The wife showed me to my bedroom and said that the bathroom next to it was all mine as they had an en suite. I was slightly surprised to find when I went into 'my' bathroom that the side of the bath was draped with a couple of damp flannels and a wet towel (there were fresh towels for me on the heated towel rail) and there was a toothbrush on the basin and toothpaste with the cap off. Also a clearly used hairbrush. I guessed that it was probably the husband's bathroom when they didn't have guests.

In the morning I thought I'd used the bath, so I folded the flannels and towel and put them on the laundry basket. I also put the lid on the toothpaste and put it and the toothbrush in the glass on the windowsill. I put my own toothbrush and toothpaste and a couple of other products out by the basin.

I went out for several hours with my cousin that day and when we got back and I went upstairs for a pee I found that my stuff had been placed on the floor in a corner and his toothbrush and paste and his flannels etc were all back where they had been originally.

I didn't say anything at the time but I'm not sure I want to go back. Would you? Have you ever known anything like it?

She wants him to use the en suite when there are guests. He prefers the bathroom with elbow room. At a guess.

Yes, I'm pretty sure that was it. But it seemed so rude – particularly moving my stuff onto the floor. At least I put his stuff away neatly!
