What did Alastair Stewart do?

Apparently he's resigned because of an error of judgement in his social media use. What did he do/say?

I agree with Neednewwellies in that Alastair Stewart was just trying to say that the man was ill-educated/stupid. At that point, Alastair Stewart had made no link between the word 'ape' and the man's colour. But now that the man has called racism, the link has been re-drawn for all of us. Which is unfortunate. I totally agree that racism should be called when it is racism (and that includes towards white people) but calling it constantly never lets it go away, when surely this world is trying to move up and beyond it, aren't we?
