Is normal towelling the same as Terry towelling?

I’d like to make some burp cloths and I have some unused towels that I stored away a while ago.

Can I get away with using those (obviously would be washed before use), or is Terry towelling the best and only one to use?

Yes it is. Terry comes from a French word that means to draw out.

I thought that Terry towelling was that stretchy stuff that baby grows are sometimes made of.

@DustyMaiden, when you say yes it is, do you mean yes it is the same , or do you mean yes it is (Terry) the the best and the only one to use?
Sorry, being daft here.

Same thing. What a great idea, waste not, want not.

PhilCollinsFingerWag · 29/01/2020 14:58

Well exactly @OvenGlovesWillTearUsApart, I’ve no other use for them, they’ll be stuck in the loft.

I’ve already given some towels to the local animal sanctuary so nothing wasted definitely.

Sorry, yes it is the same.

It's the same thing! I used the same terry nappies for my DS that my DM used for me.
But I cut up an old winciette sheet for burp cloths that we now use for hankies Grin

Fabulous, I’ve now got enough towelling to make a few burp cloths today, and it’s not cost me much at all, as the towels were unused presents.
Thanks all 👶 🍼

I think you are being very creative and practical. Maybe post some pix when you’re done? I find anything like this quite inspiring!
