Quick (but urgent) question about gas fire

Hi all, I've just put on the gas fire, which hasn't been used for quite a while - there's a patch of sunlight on the wall next to it, but in this I can see some sort of airflow (for want of a better word) in shadow, coming from the fire.
I'm not sure how else to explain it
I've not had a gas fire before- is this normal?!

Yes it's the gas vapour.
Looks a bit mad and wiggly?

BigFatLiar · 29/01/2020 09:33

Fire should be ok provided it's been serviced regularly. Sounds like what you're seeing is the convection current of warm air rising.

TheQueef · 29/01/2020 09:34

Has it been serviced and do you have a carbon monoxide alarm?

@TheQueef Yes, that's it. Is that ok?! I've turned the fire off now it can still see it...

It sounds like heat haze rather than gas vapours.

Thank you all, it's been serviced within the last year, looks like I was just panicking about nothing!
