I smell things that aren’t there.

Always have. Doesn’t bother me most of the time although the soap powder smell by my bed is particularly overwhelming this evening. I know it’s fairly rare but was idly wondering if anyone here has it too?

I recently had very bad cold. My nose was blocked and I could not smell anything, except, every evening, when on a sofa in front of Tv, this horrible smell of stale tobacco would come out of nowhere. None of us smoke and my DP could not smell it. It was really bizarre.

DD and I were talking about just this the other day. We were remembering a time she had been in a theatre production and there was loads of dry ice on stage, which has a really distinctive smell. The show was videoed and we could order copies. When we watched the dvd of the show when we got sent it weeks afterwards, and that scene came on the screen, we could both smell the dry ice. Weird.

@Southmouth raw egg smell on cups and glasses, YES! It’s truly disgusting.
I call it my smellucination. But if you get it too maybe it’s really??

Yes, this is a relatively new migraine pro-drome symptom for me. I get the classic "fried onions" smell and, more recently, an overwhelmingly strong smell of petrol. When I get the petrol smell, absolutely everything tastes of fish - even a cup of tea. It is vile!
