Does this sound like IBS?

This has happened to me 5 times now and most recent was last night. I went for a pee and came in and lay down but had a bad stomach ache that went from 0-100 in seconds. It reminded me of contractions in that I had to try to breathe through the pain. It doesn't come in waves, it's non stop agonising pain and I can't move from the position I'm in, not even to turn on my other side etc. DP got me buscopan as I do have IBS. He also got me some paracetamol and he rubbed my back while I honestly cried and tried to just breathe through it til it passed.

This went on for an hour during which the pain didn't settle at all it just stayed a steady agonising pain in the very bottom of my stomach with it being a little worse on the right hand side. I felt as if my bowel was trying to squeeze out a fart (Sorry but that's the only way to describe it) but the fart wouldn't come out but my bowel was stuck open trying to let it out.

I've had this pain before and I can't sit when I do have it as I have rectum pain. It's always really low stomach and pressure at what I guess is the top of my rectum. The pain nearly makes me vomit but I don't need to go to the toilet. I'm not constipated as I went to the toilet twice yesterday and got rid of a lot so I can't see how I could be constipated. Also been quite regular over the weekend etc too.

I don't know whether it's just another annoying part of IBS (out of 5 of these attacks I've been able to go to the toilet at the very start of it twice but hadn't needed to the other 3 times) or something else I'd need to keep mentioning as I've had ongoing lower stomach issues recently and had scans and laparoscopy but no evidence of anything.

Sorry that was a bit long but I'm still sore in my stomach today like pulled muscles so thought I'd see if any other IBS sufferers get this and it's just another shitty (no pun intended) side effect of it.

I think the thing with IBS is that it affects people differently. I've never experienced anything like that with mine. That does sound deeply unpleasant and you probably should see the GP I should think. Take care x

could be gallbladder attack.

It could be...but any significant changes and such severe pain warrants a trip to the GP.

RebeccaCloud9 · 28/01/2020 20:46

Like @faithinfinty said, it could be but sounds like you should get it checked out.

Doh, type! @FaithInfinity

Anything anyone here says is guesswork.

Could be a partial obstruction (e.g. From inflammation/narrowing, twisted bowel, adhesions/scar tissue wrapping around the bowel). Could be something else.

I agree pain that severe needs investigating. You've had laparoscopy, what about endoscopy?

SeansNiece · 28/01/2020 20:55

I've had colonoscopy about 3 years ago and a sigmoidoscopy about 6 months ago after I mentioned this to my gastro dr but wasn't sure why he opted for sig when the pain is mostly on the right.

I just wanted to see if other IBS sufferers had this before I mentioned it again incase they fob me off with 'just IBS' again.
