A bittersweet birthday cake

I am a foster mum, my little girl is 3 tomorrow and has never had a birthday cake. I have just made her this cake, it's nowhere near perfect but I hope she likes it. It is the first and last cake I will make her as she's off to her adoptive family in the near future.

That is amazing!!

Wonkybanana · 27/01/2020 20:42

I bet she loves it. And she'll remember it for a very long time.

It's great being a foster mum and knowing that you can give a child a stable environment, but it has its heartaches too.

JoyceDivision · 27/01/2020 20:43

I hope your foster daughter soaks up the love and care that you obviously have spent on it for her Flowers

I'm sure she'll love it. Peppa Pig perfect for a 3yo! She will have a lovely birthday this year.

jellycatspyjamas · 27/01/2020 20:46

Take lots of photos of the cake, of her and her and the cake together - they’ll be treasured by her in years to come when she understands the care and love driving what you’ve done for her. Have a fabulous day tomorrow.

Herocomplex · 27/01/2020 20:46

How lovely. I wish her a very Happy Birthday and a most sincere Many Happy Returns.

Enjoy the cake and the candles!

Clevererthanyou · 27/01/2020 20:47

That’s smashing, I’d quite like one for my birthday tbh. I truly hope the birthday girl enjoys it!

AuntyElle · 27/01/2020 20:48

Bless you, how lovely. And, as you say, incredibly bittersweet. 💜💜

Queenfreak · 27/01/2020 20:49

What a massive heart you have. It's a beautiful cake, and a very special gift for her. You'll always carry the memory of this, and the photos will help to give her a sense of identity xx

BuddhaAtSea · 27/01/2020 20:51

Awww, bless you! It’s perfect, she’ll love it!
Happy birthday to the little one!

BuddhaAtSea · 27/01/2020 20:53

Where I come from you get a birthday chair! Just your normal chair, but it has ribbons and balloons, or fairy lights, try that if you’d like 🤗

Mumdiva99 · 27/01/2020 20:53

She will love it. Well done you. Definitely do the photo so she can look back on it in years to come. Xxxx

ArtyFartyQueen · 27/01/2020 20:59

VerbenaGirl · 27/01/2020 21:13

Can’t help but notice you’ve said “my little girl”, which intrigued me a bit?

bloodywhitecat · 27/01/2020 21:19

She's my little foster girl, we view her as a member of our family, there will always be space in my heart and home for her.

Gorgeous. Enjoy the precious day with her.

The bbc radio programme about fostering and adopting has stayed with me. A truly heartbreaking and uplifting tale of 2 little boys. M
The foster mum was just incredible. So full of love and so warm. But also so pragmatic about moving the boys on to their forever family.

I think your cake is wonderful and what you do is truly inspiring..

bloodywhitecat · 28/01/2020 12:04

Thank you.

So far she has declared today to be "amazing!".
