What’s the quietest time to visit Disneyland paris ?

Ms- do your kids enjoy Disney films? Or just didn’t like the park?

DLP is a waste of money in my experience.

I went aged 11 in October and it felt run-down and cheap. The customer service was pretty poor from what I can remember and it didn't feel remotely magical. My dad took me because we were in Paris anyway and he wanted to surprise me - don't get me wrong, I'm glad I went but we only went for a day and that was plenty enough.

I'm hoping to get to the Florida parks one day.

Adaline- thanks

Personally I prefer POTC in Anaheim Park and Tower of Terror is Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout in Anaheim which I feel is much better than Tower of Terror.

I've visited Paris and California a few times. California will always be my favourite park.

DD is an annual pass holder at Paris and has been to Orlando and Anaheim. Her favourite is also Anaheim.
But, as she rightly points out, she can't hop on a train and be in Anaheim in a couple of hours so Paris is handy.

KitKat1985 · 29/01/2020 13:11

Jan / Feb will be quietest, but will also probably be cold and wet, so depends how much that would bother you.

SistersOfPercy · 29/01/2020 13:41

There is a crowd calendar here:

queue-times.com/parks/4/calendar

They are usually reasonably accurate taking into account previous years etc.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 29/01/2020 13:52

Thanks for the calander

So here’s the thing. I need it quiet for my son but I also suffer in the cold. Confused so now what

January is the quietest, but yes it is cold. However, if you look for the French they wear ski clothes and snow boots, lovely and warm! Follow their example.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 29/01/2020 16:14

Lone - I’ve tried ski clothing in this country when it was snowing and I was still cold Blush

End January midweek was when we went. It was fantastic. We avoid queues (since found out daughter and probably me are asd) and ot was truly worth it to be able to just go straight on rides and run round and go on again.

My autistic child didnt like pirates of the carribean or ratatouille. Its big surprises she doesnt like or the dark rides or the realism of the scenes in Pirates. Everyones different though.

Absolutely amazing time. I don't get the posters saying "only 45min"?!?! Id never manage that. I truly wouldn't enjoy it with crowds or queues and the january one was probably our favourite ever holiday

SistersOfPercy · 29/01/2020 16:27

Have you considered Orlando instead? Obviously not as simple, but Florida tends to be quiet around September time (hurricane season but still warm)

Greenbutterlfy566 · 29/01/2020 16:40

Squashed- what age was your daughter if you don’t mind me asking?

Sisters- I haven’t really but could look in to it.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 29/01/2020 16:46

My autistic daughter was 7 (now 10) and youngest was 4. I think florida would be far too overwhleming unless older at least for my child as it would be too much stimulation and having to cope with plane etc too. Would def do paris first to check they even like it.

My daughter now has a rollercoaster "special interest" so has a merlin pass but we are using inset days and quiet days to go. There is a queue jumping pass you can get once they have Dla, but to be honest even with that she wouldnt like the bustling and crowds.

They are all different though. If we had the money we'd be off next Jnauary!

Sallysaved · 29/01/2020 17:10

Op I think anyone would find it hard to have a great experience on the their first time.

We had an annual pass by visit 2 we were nealry there by visit 3 we were swinging like monkeys smoothly from ride to ride using extra time and fast passes etc.
Amazing time by 4th and final 5th visit.

Annual pass stay off site. Hotels nicer than on site with more amenities.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 29/01/2020 17:12

We werent going to do 5 visits in a year so still had an awesome time.

Hotels cheaper in january and we did onsite for ease of travel with my duaghter, and it really worked. With magic hours the earlier finishing was perfect as we got to see the lights and firworks (take ear defenders) without having to keep kids up and be v tired.

Sallysaved · 29/01/2020 17:12

You can feel the temp dip as you walk into the park literally from the out skirts moments away. It's built in a cold spot.
It's much colder there than even a mile away.

There are other lovely parks all over Europe that include the fairy tales.

Sallysaved · 29/01/2020 17:13

The whole area was purpose built for Disney so even so called off site hotels are very close. Some the same distance or closer than so called on site hotels.

Sallysaved · 29/01/2020 17:16

Sorry to be a downer but our first visit in Feb was freezing but also quite a damp squib. It didn't have the atmosphere of later visits, lots of rides were closed, lots of the little coffee shops and tea shops were closed, lots of ride refurbished etc.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 29/01/2020 17:20

It depends what you are looking for though. The queues and busy "atmosphere" are truly rubbish for many autistic children.

SistersOfPercy · 29/01/2020 17:21

@Greenbutterlfy566 there are a few Facebook groups for both Orlando and Paris:

Disney and Orlando for Brits

Disneyland Paris for Brits

Have a look on there, good budgeting suggestions etc as well.

SquashedFlyBiscuit · 29/01/2020 17:21

My best friend preferred hour long queues and heat.... we preferred walk on rides and less people! All different.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 29/01/2020 19:37

Thanks again all.

Squashed - thanks

Sisters -I’ll check out the Facebook groups

Sally - typical they built it in a cold
Spot!

We went the first week of October a few years ago. Was pretty much empty.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 29/01/2020 20:00

Wendy - that’s good to hear
