Holidaying alone

Relationship is floundering so if I want a holiday this year I'll have to go alone. There isn't a friend I'd want to go with.

Has anyone taken a gite/villa/flat or done B&B on their own? I'd really like to be beside the sea or a private pool would be fabulous. Money is limited sadly so it couldn't be further than Europe and hopefully without having to hire a car.

I'm desperate to get away to some sun and relaxation.

Any ideas or experiences please?

I stayed with a friend at the Hotel Costa Azul in Palma a few years ago. With no kids. Or partners. God it was heaven - short flight, short transfer, small but beautiful hotel overlooking the fancy marina, nice restaurant, great breakfast and polite staff . I would 100% go there solo in a shot if I got the chance.

I'm very jealous OP GrinHave a great time wherever you go and luxuriate in only having to please yourself. You should totally do an airport lounge if you fly too!

Cfrienddoes this every year for a week in Minorca. She chooses s hotel with a balcony room and chills. Another friend regularly books s villa in Greece, usually with a pool.

@CatUnderTheStairs - is there any particular organisation or holiday company your friends use?

minorca one always books through a travel agency. Greek one independently through internet, last one she looked up on booking.com then booked via the villas own website.

Loads of time’s. I worked funny hours and friends couldn’t do the same time so I would hire and Airbnb and stay somewhere.

I’ve also stayed with a friend but we’ve done different things and met up for dinner sometimes.

If you fancy a bit of volunteering search for VaughanTown or Diverbo.
All you do is pay for your flights then your room and board is covered in exchange for talking all day! Great fun, and I've made some really good friends and have since travelled with them.

I go alone every year. Lisbon last year and Ibiza this year. I prefer a hotel and love travelling alone, you only have to please yourself!

Hello OP. Good for you for fighting back! If you can find a last minute deal on a cruise, go for it. The prices tumble when it is last minute. When cruising, you can be on your own or with people. I have been doing this for years and never feel like the odd one out.
