How many pairs of socks do you and your household have?

I seem to have a washing basket that is permanently full of unpaired socks.

I periodically pair some but rarely get half way down the basket.

It's just occurred to me that maybe it would be easier if we just had less socks. Having said that it feels wrong to throw things away....

Do most people have piles and piles of socks?

Wouldn't even want to start to count. But rarely have odd pairs. They get washed, paired up, put away. Any socks that have been separated get put in that person's drawer.

I have never had a tub of odd socks.

About 12 pairs of trainer socks, 12 thin ankle socks and about 12 thick ankle socks plus a few pairs of slipper bed socks.

I've don't find it that much of a hassle to pair socks as they go in and out of the washing machine.

Can you just put a load of socks in a suitcase and then get them out when you need "new" ones.

Or you can do want my dh does and will only put socks in the wash in pairs, hangs them out in pairs and then rolls them together in pairs when he take them off the line. it takes him forever
