Soppy things that make you cry soppily

I just tried to explain the end of The Railway Children's emotional hold over me to my husband ('Daddy! My daddy!') but was crying before I could get those three words out.

Same with the end of The House at Pooh Corner. I'm going to make DH read that to DD when she's old enough because I know I won't be able to.

Tell me I'm not alone? And tell me what makes you cry like a child so I can go and research it for myself and enjoy a blub Blush

London Marathon theme music. That tune is just loaded with emotional manipulation.

MovinOnUp · 26/01/2020 16:53

Any episode of 'This is us'

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 26/01/2020 16:56

I can cry every time I see parents dropping off their kids at uni in freshers week.

I’m sure I will cry all the way back home when it is my turn.

Hidingtonothing · 26/01/2020 16:59

Those bloody videos on YouTube of soldiers coming home and surprising their kids/partners/pets Blush

Likethebattle · 26/01/2020 17:16

I don’t cry easily but I cried watching a programme last nigh about the ambulance service. An elderly Lady had fallen and couldn’t get back up. Two young paramedics came to her aid and were so lovely to her. She was crying and one just scooped her up for a cuddle. They asked her about her late husband and made her some tea then checked her over. They were just so kind and sweet to her that it made me cry.

Noel Fitzpatrick’s relationship with animals.

As in, how he is with them and what he does to make them better, not the other type of relationships ...Im quite sure he’s not like that 😁.

I’ll get my coat...

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 26/01/2020 17:40

Phil Yes. Not soppy crying with that sort of relationship...

The Wooly Hugs threads made me cry my eyes out earlier 😓 just so many good hearted people out there

Minesril · 26/01/2020 18:53

I'm very pregnant. The last page of 'there's going to be a baby' when the boy is on the bus with his grandad on their way to the hospital.
That book went back to the library sharpish!

LuvMyBoyz · 26/01/2020 20:25

Just sobbed through the film 1917 at the cinema. Anything to do with people deployed in warfare makes me weep.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 26/01/2020 20:57

God, I remember trying to watch Saving Private Ryan. I didn't even make it through the first five minutes 😓

Oh child cancer adverts. The unfairness of children with cancer kills me, the one where they ring the bell when they go home, some won’t ring that bell, they shouldn’t be having to ring that bell at all though and I get a lump in my throat and angry tears!

Orangecatfish · 26/01/2020 21:17

I was reading the children's version of Romeo and Juliet to my dd. Poor thing. I was crying so much I had to stop reading.

Beautyoftheirdreams · 26/01/2020 21:21

Gosh lots of things. Currently James Blunt's new video 'Monsters'. I can't even talk about it without crying

lardass88 · 26/01/2020 21:31

@Beautyoftheirdreams omg. Just seen that. Heartbreaking 😞

YasssKween · 26/01/2020 21:38

That moment a groom first looks over his shoulder and sees his bride walking towards him down the aisle.

Dogs reaction to their soldier owners returning home.

Any kids singing in a group.

😭

frugalkitty · 26/01/2020 21:39

'daddy, my daddy' always sets me off.

Beauty I agree totally about that song and video, my Dad has Parkinson's and we nearly lost him over Christmas. I wasn't going to watch it but did and cried buckets and buckets over it.

Daisypearl · 26/01/2020 21:41

The Lloyds adverts with the horses 😭

Echobelly · 26/01/2020 21:45

Oh God, everything! I'll cry at a sad bit in a crappy kids cartoon that I happen to switch onto between channels!

I love classical music and cry a lot at operas... I think the most OTT tearjerker is Puccini's 1-acter 'Sister Angelica' which ends with the Virgin Mary appearing to the dying Sister Angelica with her dead son to show she is forgiven for committing suicide. Top that for tear-jerking cheesiness! Totally cry even thinking about it.

Likethebattle · 26/01/2020 21:48

But obviously we are all forgetting the Sistine Chapel....

pinkytheunicorn · 26/01/2020 21:52

I ugly cried at the end of Frozen earlier, the bit when Anna saves her sister then Elsa is so distraught at her death it brings her back to life.

In my defence, I am utterly exhausted from solo wrangling a non sleeping baby and autistic preschooler all weekend as DH is away so I'm probably more emotional than normal!

DD looked at me very oddly and said 'mummy, what are you doing?'Grin

Beekeeper1 · 26/01/2020 21:53

Every time I hear the 'Humming Chorus' from 'Madam Butterfly'!

Girlananchronism · 26/01/2020 22:00

The baby chimp program that is on bbc atm. I love it, turns me into a blithering idiot Confused

MinesaPinot · 26/01/2020 22:28

I cry unashamedly at the end of the Railway Children and at several moments in ET, and near enough the whole way through La Boheme.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 26/01/2020 22:37
