... what would it look like?

dh: everything beige/magnolia/grey and plain or square

dmil: everything matching and everything blue

me: eclectic - whatever I fancy when shopping

If only one person in the house had to be responsible for home decor I'd put DD in charge (aged nearly 15) because she cares more about that sort of thing than DH or I! There's be more throws and scatter cushions - her bed is covered in them - and a lot more art on the walls, which would be more colourful (all our walls are white except in DD's bedroom as she repainted hers herself). She also likes "nooks" and corners of rooms allocated to separate purposes, although I'm not sure how well that works in communal rooms.

Actually maybe we should give her a budget in the summer holidays and let her redo the living room...

Same as you!

DH - Magnolia walls, grey sofas, minimal ‘stuff’, functional furniture rather than pretty but with everything matching.

Me - Colour, mismatching cushions and furnishings, random objects dotted around.

When we bought our house I’m convinced he only liked it because it was just refurbished and EVERY ROOM was magnolia. I’m slowly getting round to magnolia-ing but he’ll get freaked if I do it all too quick...

DH would have everything plain and dark.
I would have everything colourful.

As a result we have a kitchen I was allowed total free reign of so it's like a unicorn has thrown up in there, same with the playroom.

The rest of the house has a hint of colour but in darker or paler shades then I'd usually choose to keep Dh agreeable 😂
