New hospital

Impressed by how quickly China are building a new hospital due to virus, but wonder how they are doing it.

There are a few reports on this plus time lapse videos of previous projects that went up in days.

I would imagine it is much faster for a dictatorship to reposes land and sort out permits and other bureaucratic requirements than it is for a democratic state to do so even in an emergency.

Following from that, China is a huge county with massive resources so it’s very simple to concentrate some of them intensively on one project. Prefab buildings will be diverted to this project. Companies working on other projects will stop to concentrate on this one.

People are working with minimal breaks which is easier to impose in a dictatorship and I would imagine that working conditions do not conform to the highest health and safety standards.

Chana also has considerable engineering and construction skills which will be applied to speed up things.

They’re very clever. Could you imagine if our govt ran the country like this .. quick build a new road, city, hospital, mall - whatever and you have ten days to do so! Great. So efficient.
