Tell me about your cleaner

I want to know if I’m expecting too much. I asked mine to do a thorough clean of living room and kitchen. I was upstairs working. When she was due to leave she told me she had emptied my dishwasher and put everything away. I felt slightly surprised at this, as I’m not paying her to do something I’m happy to do myself. Furthermore, I’m still finding things in the wrong place. There were corners she had missed in the kitchen, so a thorough clean it wasn’t.

Not sure what you want us to tell you ? Confused
I'd be quite happy if my cleaner put things away from my dishwasher.

I think we all have a different idea of what "a thorough clean of...." means.
If you have specific things you want doing, then you need to take the time to go through all of this with her first - back it up with a written list if you want to.
Personally, I'm more than happy for my cleaner to do whatever she can get done in the time I pay her for - if there I things left I want doing then I would ask her is next time she could do that (but obviously would expect her to then leave something else off) or I suppose you could choose to pay for extra time.
However, no-one is a mind reader, so go through things that you feel are important, and everyone will be happy, otherwise she is just guessing.

I'm a cleaner. I wouldn't empty a dishwasher and leave the corners personally. But as has been said, a list or verbal instructions are helpful. Depends on how long shes been your cleaner as well re her understanding your requirements.

Agree with @Backforgood. You have to be specific. My cleaner doesn't have anything to do with dishwasher or laundry. If I want her to do something specific (like clean the fridge) I tell her. My cleaner is quite thorough and works hard but she doesn't get as much done as my last cleaner, who had a real mania for organising cupboards - and my wardrobe even though I explicitly told her not to! So instead she rotates some rooms from week to week.
