DH has suggested this as Saturday night viewing that we might both enjoy.

Is he lying his cock off?!

It's not gruesome it's boring and weird in a bad way.

I like serial killer shit and this isn't it. Don't know why people have gone on about it so much and said that's it's good, it's not.

NutRoastNancy · 25/01/2020 20:29

I am disturbed for life, definitely regret watching that.

Peanutbutteryogurt · 25/01/2020 20:30

Pretty gruesome. They don't show the whole videos but you see enough and the videos are also described in great detail. I did find it quite gripping though.

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2020 20:31

I watched it the other day.
I found it really boring and quite weird, drifted in and out of sleep so possibly missed the worst of it but from what I could see, a lot of the things are pixelated and cut away from.
The story of tracking down the perpetrator was semi interesting.

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 25/01/2020 20:34

Don't watch it. I regret it. Cried on and off for hours after. The desperation on the cat's face makes me well up thinking about it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/01/2020 20:35

It definitely shows more of the footage than is bearable if you are a big cat lover.

It was interesting though.

Heyduggeefordays · 25/01/2020 20:35

DP picked this for last weekends binge watch. I found it quite a hard watch as it was quite boring and gruesome in places. I found the vigilantism quite unsettling aswell.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 25/01/2020 20:36

Hard to see but is a good programme

Chickenitalia · 25/01/2020 20:37

There’s nothing really gratuitous involving the animals actually shown, though it is described. What I find more disturbing is how traumatised people are over the cat parts, and completely accept the footage taken after poor Jun Lin dies, and what happens to him. That is seriously fucked up.
Other than that it’s an intriguing story and investigation, but with a lot of holes and not a lot of answers in parts. I’ve seen worse.

Woody479 · 25/01/2020 20:38

I found it all very weird. It’s not gruesome in a gorey blood and guts kind of way it’s just quite disturbing and there is one part where they show the start of a cat being drowned-it’s taped up to a wooden pole hovering over a bath and the absolute terror in its eyes in unforgettable. They also show dead cats. I wouldn’t recommend watching it.

tmh88 · 25/01/2020 20:39

I found it really disturbing! The distress on the cats face is hard to see and of course the horrific murder of the poor human also.

SidsWife · 25/01/2020 20:41

More disgusted by the people upset about the cats and not Jun Lin. The actual human being.

It was a very interesting documentary. I found it fascinating how a couple of internet geeks managed to track him down to specific areas of the globe just by looking at things like what hoover he used.

Greysparkles · 25/01/2020 20:41

Was just about the say the same chicken

People crying for days after over the cats, but no mention of the man brutally murdered, his corpse violated. His dismembered head was used as a plaything in the bath.
But ya. The cats. Confused

Littlejets · 25/01/2020 20:42

I agree with @Chickenitalia, the outrage towards the cats being killed has been far more than for the poor lad that was murdered. I personally found it an extremely interesting watch.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/01/2020 20:46

You don't see any of Jun Lin's murder though, but you do see corpses of cats in a fridge.

MoonlightMistletoe · 25/01/2020 20:51

I watched it and wasn't that disturbed because I watched it to the end. If it's too much you can always stop watching x

DaisyDreaming · 25/01/2020 20:55

They featured more of the cat footage than I wish they had and it’s horrid but the murder was far harder to hear about. I found it boring and fascinating at the same time- not so much the psychology of a messed up psychopath but of the people hunting him down and also the mums denial

TheChosenTwo · 25/01/2020 21:02

Okay, I didn’t want to give spoilers about the dead man but others have so I’ll say what I was going to in my previous post as others have said the same - I found it baffling how devastated people were about the murder of cats but seemingly quite unaffected by the brutal murder of him.
I actually really dislike cats but the idea of them being murdered disgusts me. I don’t know how anyone could be So callously cruel to kittens but I found the murder of the man far worse because he was a human I guess. In my world I put people before pets but it really is some fucked up individual who plots out killing kittens like he did.

Woody479 · 25/01/2020 21:07

It was far more focused on the cats murder than the mans and I think people who tend to watch programmes like this are used to the human element. Seeing/hearing about cats being tortured and murdered isn’t common and so that became the shocking part of it. I don’t think it’s because people value cats lives above humans!

LittleScottish · 25/01/2020 21:07

Hmmm...thanks all. It doesn't sound like a recipe for a cosy night in!

It was pretty heavy to watch.. But a very interesting series! I think I enjoyed it so much because usually crime documentaries don't get to me as much as that did. It was pretty messed up... (don't let that put you off watching it!)

MiniMum97 · 25/01/2020 21:36

I thought it was really good. Definitely worth a watch. I looked away for most of the cat videos though. They were pretty grim even though you don't see the whole thing (thankfully). There's one image though that has stuck in my mind. Interesting story. I would have liked to have understood more about him and his background/upbringing would be my only criticism.

There is more info about him though on the inter web if you are interested in that side.
