Help me save a failed tiramisu mix

DS2 11 has valiantly tried to make a Tiramisu by himself this afternoon.

Unfortunately 'something' went wrong - both the egg white whipping and cream whipping went flat and the mixture is the consistency of cream, not mousse.

If I tell you what the ingredients of the mix are can anyone come up with something to do with it so its not wasted and I cheer him up?

2 eggs
100g caster sugar
tablespoon marsala wine
100g mascarpone
150ml double cream

something delicious must come of this mix surely?
I am thinking
add self-raising flour and make American pancakes
or
use it as a custard (add more egg yolks?) and make bread and butter pudding
but any sure fire wins appreciated

Do you have an ice cream maker? Or, if not, I think you can make ice cream by freezing in a shallow container and whisking regularly as it freezes.

I'd make ice cream. It would be amazing!

If he got even a trace of cream or mascarpone into the the egg white , that would have prevented it from thickening.

Yes - the cream and egg white whipping thing is a lesson best learnt the hard way ;-) I will do it with him tomorrow and then he will be a fully licensed egg-white-whisker! I reckon once you knwo how you never forget.

Im sure ive had an italian pudding which was that sort of mix, but served like a mousse? Defo had marsala wine in it anyway. Cant remember what its called though. Serve in a fancy glass, with a ladyfinger/amaretti biscuit crumbled on top plus another to dip?

Zabaglione!

girlwithkaleidoscopehair · 25/01/2020 17:47

do you mean Zabaglione @Msmarvel?
Too late for whipping of any kind as its flat as a pancake and all combined :-(

Definitely ice cream. It probably won’t even need stirring in the freezer with that amount of fat in it. Yum.

Do you have any xantham gum in the house? Sprinkle on half a teaspoon and whisk! It will thicken up lovely Smile

No help but I never add eggs to tiramisu, just mascarpone, cream, marsala etc but no egg at all.
