My dads girlfriend wants to better her English (we're foreign). I'd like to get her a weekly magazine subscription so she has a variety of topics to read in English every week as a simple exercise. She is an active, modern woman in her 70s. Can you recommend me a weekly magazine with a variety of topics?

There’s a new one called Platinum which seems decent (I read my mums copy ) and also Prima is not bad .

Personally, I'd go for Grazia so long as she's happy with celeb gossip.

What about The Week? It has an overview of news from around the world plus pages on films, books, theatre, science, health etc. I particularly like the properties!

I was going to suggest The a Week as well. They're advertising 6 free issues atm too.

Readily is good. £9.99 a month an app with every single magazine you can think of plus back copies. It’s amazing

nothing aimed at women! The Week is a really good one.

Monthly rather than weekly, but the Lady can be ordered on subscription and would have clear, non-slang, English.

Womans Weekly is a reasonable weekly read for that age group.

Would she like Country Life or The Lady?

@Holdingtherope I have that app, and it's great. Do you know of any way that I can read it on my Kindle as well as on my phone though?

Just on phones or iPad I think. Or can you download apps on kindle?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm going to see if I can order the Week. It sounds like it has a good range of subjects and she is quite well informed so it might suit her.
