Calling all (more mature) PA's/EA's

It's that time of year at work where we have to set our goals / objectives for the year. I'm getting a bit long in the tooth I'm afraid, having been a PA all my working life and now in my 50's and I'm not seeking to climb the career ladder and just want to carry on doing what I'm doing for another 10 or so years until retirement. I'm stumped for what goals to work towards and would appreciate thoughts, ideas, inspiration from others in the same position!

Take on other work that interests you? Not for promotion just for fun. I was a PA and I took over a lot of the data protection work as it fascinated me.

Technology is always changing. You could challenge yourself to get upskilled with new tech and champion it internally, or learn to do new things with the programmes you already use.

I feel for you OP. My Dad is in a similar frame of mind at the moment, he's happy to press on until retirement. Unfortunately this means he's butted heads occasionally with the goal setters who can't understand his point of view.

I've done PA work and felt stumped by this sort of exercise too. It's hard because you are still always going to have to do your core work because the place can't function if you don't, and you can hardly swan off and do something else because who else is going to do your stuff. And there are only so many ways you can arrange meetings etc.

I'd go for things that are so vague no one can really pin them down.

'Contribute towards building a more welcoming environment for visitors'.

'Research and improve our environmental sustainability'.

That sort of thing.
