Would you return a second hand item that arrived dirty?

Just that really. We ordered a Gamecube controller from CEX and it's arrived with gross dirt and grime all round the buttons and joystick bits. Because it's an original it's probably nearly 20 years old so I was expecting it to be worn and used but not dirty? It was also £22 because they're fairly uncommon now - if it had been a fiver I'd have just wiped it and got on with it but twenty quid for something to arrive filthy?

It is plastic though so I'm trying to decide if it's worth the hassle of returning or just taking some Method to it and giving it a scrub?

It should have been clean no matter what the price.

That depends if you’re okay to clean it yourself? From my experience places like these don’t seem to clean their controllers which is so gross considering what that dirt is, if you can find the same from someone on gumtree etc they’d probably have the decency to clean it for you before they sell it to you.

cuckooken · 24/01/2020 10:27

No I would clean it.

Quirrelsotherface · 24/01/2020 10:31

With something like that I'd clean it with bleach but wouldn't buy online from them again!

motortroll · 24/01/2020 10:44

Because it's from cex I'd return it. They have a reputation to uphold and that's really unacceptable. If it was eBay it whatever I'd just give it a clean and get on with it.

Sounds grim. I’m like you and wouldn’t bother for a small amount of money but for £22 I’d definitely return it.

If they are hard to get hold off I suppose it depends how much you want it? If it can be exchanged I would, if not i would clean it.
