What next after Fiat Panda?

I've been driving a Fiat Panda (2011) for the past five years and I love it. I know they're not everyone's favourite car, but it was my first car and has been perfect for what I needed. It's speedy with good acceleration so never feels like you have to drag it up a hill, small and easy to park, comfortable to drive, reliable, and has coped pretty well with the longer and longer journeys I've been putting it through.

In the past six months my mileage has increased from around 10k per year to what I predict to be about 17-18k this year. In this time it has started to struggle more, and has increasingly needed repairs. But now, after a crash this week, it has been written off and I need to try and find something that will be able to manage my mileage (which hopefully will decrease to ~15/16k in the next year or so) and also fulfil everything I loved about the Panda!

This was my first car so I'm feeling overwhelmed with where to start looking. I'd always rather go off recommendations, so does anyone have suggestions of where to look to narrow my search down, or, incredibly, know the perfect car for what I need?!

I had a 15 plate C3 for a couple of years until an uninsured wankbag wrote it off. It was by far the best car I’ve ever owned.

Should have mentioned - I have a budget of approx £6-8k, and definitely want petrol rather than diesel.

That's interesting, @UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre, I've mainly seen negative things about C3's. What is it you liked about it?

I've got a Fiat 500X. I have recently got it, having had a 500 before this. I really like it (although it may not be everyone's thing!)

Can't beat Toyota Yaris for economy and value for money

We have a mitsibishi colt. The Panda was one of the other models we looked at in our budget. It has more grunt if you get one with a bigger engine size and great head room. What's wrong with looking for a Panda with a bigger engine if you loved them?

I currently have a Toyota Aygo which I love love love.

I've had a Suzuki Swift before also and that was an amazing car, will probably go back to it at some point.

I had a Panda and found it pretty awful Grin poor acceleration, noisy and uncomfortable. You could try a Mazda: much nippier, comfy and stylish interiors.

Not sure about prices, but premium brands also do little city cars so you could find sth from Merc or BMW.

We had a C3 many moons ago, it was a great little car.
