I started a new job 4 weeks ago, and I really hate it. The probation period is 6 months, and I'm supposed to give 1 months notice.

What happens if I just walk out? 😬

Bad reference and it will look bad on your cv but essentially nothing serious.

If it is that bad give your notice in and go off sick.

Never leave an employer under bad terms even if you hate it. It is unprofessional.
It is easier to get a job when you have a job.
They can reflect it in your reference if they wish. Worked here x amount and left without working notice. You might be asked by a new employer to explain this.

Since it’s such a short period of time would you have to even put it on a cv or use as a reference?

Crinkle77 · 23/01/2020 20:57

Do you have to give notice on your probation period?

RobustFlange · 23/01/2020 22:08

I do have to work a months notice, it's just going to be really awkward. The people are really nice, but the work itself is not what I was expecting.

Would they give me a bad reference if I worked the notice (or offered to - they might tell me to piss off!)?

I think I've got something lined up, but it's not 100% at the moment.

Thanks for all the helpful answers!
