Mirena and no periods

I've had a mirena since 2013, replaced Jan 2019 and periods were incredibly light but regular.
I now haven't had one since mid December and am getting worried but it looks like no periods is common.
How do I know what's mirena no periods and when I should be worried? Even if I test, how can I be sure?
I'm also 40 so could be the menopause.

I'm in exactly the same situation, almost to the dates. Getting worried. I've had really light periods but always on day 28. I'm now on day 34 and nothing....

See you on the August antenatal thread maybe

I've had a Mirena since 1999. One of the attractions of it was reduced,or no periods. After years of pain and heavy bleeding,I thought this could only be a bonus. With the first one that I had, within 6 months of having it 'installed',I was having only very light bleeding occasionally. With the second one, apart from some initial bleeding for 48 hours after having the old one removed and the new one put in,I had no periods at all for 6 years. The same thing happened with the last one. I am now 56,and would imagine that I've been through the menopause, but the only symptom I have had is the occasional hot flush for a couple of years, when I was 52 - 53. I wondered whether the Mirena was responsible for reducing menopausal symptoms. I had this one taken out a year ago,had a little light bleeding for 24 hours, since then, nothing. I think the Mirena is brilliant. Smile

I had mine fitted 6 weeks ago and have bled every day since! When does it stop???

ColourMyDreams · 23/01/2020 21:03

It can vary @Penny31 when I had my first one done I barely bled at all, the last one I had done I bled for around 7 weeks.
I think some have bled for 2-3 months.
Don't give up hope, it will get better.

I Amon my third. Never had a period with...yay! And very few menopause symptoms...bonus.

I'm on my 2nd mirena with no period since September.

I now have glandular lumps in my breast caused by the build up of hormones so I'm having it taken out in March which is the first appointment I could get.

No periods is one of the main reasons I got it and is the same for most people. If I wasn't having problems I would be getting a new one fitted later in the year.

Well as of half an hour ago I can confirm I won't be on an antenatal thread. However I am very disappointed to not be in the no periods club :(

How things change. A mere decade or so ago my period was disappointing as it signified no pregnancy.
Now it's huge relief to signal no pregnancy, mixed with mild disappointment that I'm not menopausal :o

No periods since 1994 with Mirena. Fabulous!
