Family income and private school - how much?

Looking at options for secondary in a couple of years and don't know if we can afford private or not.

Can I ask how much your income is if your child is at private school?

I know this is absolutely ridiculous as we all have different expenses but just to get a feel.

Now @JoJoSM2 that's a good way of looking at it - breaking it into a monthly cost.
I have one child now at private £15,000 a year. My income is about £55,000 but I have no mortgage. So her school is almost a third of my outgoings. We only go away every other year which was this last Christmas so things are very tight at the moment! We are not on the mainland have to say I wouldn't send my child to any other school here. Cheaper housing but poor state schools.

Our family income is just over £40K and school fees just under £10K per annum. We got 50% bursary for 1st and 2nd year and less subsequent years as my income went up slightly.

If fees are £20k then that’s £1600 a month. Do you have £1600 a month spare?

You can ask whether lunch is included and get a rough cost of trips.

Don't forget the 5% annual increases. You'll soon be looking at a good few thousand more per annum than you were originally budgeting for...

My cousin sent her only son to independent school as boarder. Her family post-tax income is ~£150k, and she said fm what her son told her, she thinks they are likely the poorest family amongst the boarders!

I paid 20% of my gross income in private school fees and extras (uniforms, school trips, fund raising, etc.) for one child in private school.
