Smoke machine and smoke alarms

Having a kids disco party at the village hall. I was all ready to order a smoke machine but now I’m worried about setting off the smoke alarm and getting in trouble with the hall manager. Has anyone used a smoke machine before? Does it tend to rise? I remember it being quite low and heavy in the olden days. I wasn’t planning to do loads and loads

Ask the hall manager. We don't allow it for exactly that reason. It's an expensive mistake if you get a fire engine turn up.

Thanks witchend you’re right. I was reluctant to ask her because I’m sure it’s a blanket no just in case, and I really want a tiny bit as it won’t take much to impress early primary kids, but you’re right I really don’t want a fire engine. Thanks!
