So I don’t think that anyone quite grasps how utterly utterly shite I am at interviews...
ITs a slight step up from what I’m doing, I have done the job previously. I have oodles and years of experience.
But I completely go to fucking bits.
It’s kind of in education, it’s also management.
SMART working... I can’t retain this in my head...
significant, measurable, achievable, timely.. think I’ve got it, 10 minutes later...can’t remember it.
Quality initiative to introduce....I have one I think lined up.. using SMART to implement it.
Unseen presentation to deliver...
4 senior staff on the panel, at least an hour on there...
Shit shit fuck and bollocks.
What else????

Ok so maybe you are good but not able to help or advise...

OK... breathe.... and do some googling, find stuff with SMART on and anything you've researched about the company and take photos on your phone. Then when you've got your prep time for the unseen presentation, look at the photos on your phone to remind you.

Work through some examples in your head, write down some bullet points and photograph them! It's not cheating, it's just reminders Smile

Keep breathing. Repeat the question to play for time if you need to and try to think of the interview as a meeting, not an interview. Like it's the kind of meeting you're used to attending.

Good luck!!

Shake hands with each of them at the beginning and make lots of eye contact.

Nodding and smiling and eye contact throughout. Don't assume they know what you're talking about - keep it simple and straightforward!

I'm surprised a whole hour. I've had 5 interviews in last 8 yrs & the longest interview was maybe 30 minutes. Always 3 people on the panel.

Have you prepared a presentation, what did they actually ask you to prepare?
Is SMART actually in the interview presentation instructions?
I want to say "One question at a time". It sounds like you are easily overwhelmed with all the other strategies.

Do you have to use SMART?

I prefer a Strength / Weakness / Opportunities / Threats approach - the SWOT analysis.

Or just use examples of what you have previously done in similar jobs, to demonstrate your understanding and knowledge.

crosser62 · 21/01/2020 21:34

Yes at least an hour long... the presentation is unseen, I will get the subject during the interview.
I know all 4 on the panel, worked with them for years.
I’ve worked at the place for over 20 years. They know me, I know them.
4 other applicants..1 has been to look around, the others have not stepped foot in the place.
However, historically that doesn’t matter, it’s performance on the day. The end.
What you have done, improvements, innovations, work in your own time, none of that matters here...it’s performance on the day...
Hence me being so so anxious.

What terrible thing happens if you don't get the job offer?
Anyway, best of luck. Let us know the outcome?
