Yes I am and have been since 2am. My 5 and 1 year old won’t sleep. They are terrible sleepers. My dp has given up and sleeps in the spare room. Last night he threatened to leave. He has been trying to find a job after redundancy and are so skint we might have to sell the house. I’ve got to be at work in a couple of hours and my eldest will need to go to school. I can’t go on like this. I’m broken.

Bitofnamechanging · 21/01/2020 05:24

I'm up. For once the little ones in my house are snoozing. I had backache in bed so got up. It's freezing downstairs but the heating is too noisy to switch on. Likewise would love a cuppa but I'm loathe to wake anyone

PatricksRum · 21/01/2020 05:32

@Penny31 That sounds awful Re him threatening to leave and money issues.
Do you think you can salvage the relationship?

@Bitofnamechanging Sorry to hear of your backache. I know what you mean about wanting a cuppa but trying not to disrupt. Grin dc seems to have finally gone off. Now to plan my escape to take my medicine

My alarm just went off OP and I've been awake since 5am anyway

Clearly some people sleep later but this is normal for some

Penny31 · 21/01/2020 05:37

@PatricksRum I don’t know. If he got a job and the children slept I think things could be salvageable. We are so stressed, worried and exhausted, if things don’t change I don’t know how we can go on. I’ve been trying to hold it all together but I’m almost at breaking point tbh. Everything just feels too difficult.

TwinMum89 · 21/01/2020 05:38

Yes my girl twin has an ear infection and is currently sleeping on my chest. My boy twin has just woken and is babbling in his cot.

BBInSleepsCounting · 21/01/2020 05:43

I am up as usual with a non sleeping DC.

I can recommend a Teasmade to those pps not wanting to brave colder areas of the house or disturb the rest of the family by making a cuppa.

soundsystem · 21/01/2020 05:44

Yep! I have a 4-month-old so getting very little sleep in general!

PatricksRum · 21/01/2020 05:45

@MyuMe you're waking up, I'm going to sleep. Have a good day.

@Penny31 I understand sleep deprivation. it must be so unnerving to have him threaten to leave though. What type of career does he have?

@TwinMum89 hope dd gets better soon. Envious of her sleeping on your chest though, I miss that. How old are they?

@PatricksRum it’s not the first time. It’s the frustration and sleep deprivation talking. Before Christmas he was driving me mad, not pulling his weight with kids or house, being generally lazy and I said similar things to him. We had a lovely Christmas and had high hopes for 2020 and the first couple of weeks were more positive. It’s all gone to shit through the night. We are just exhausted. I don’t think we mean it but if he doesn’t get a job and I have to deal with non sleeping dc every night and work full time, it could eventually break us 😢 my job is not secure, just found that out recently too. Need to pull myself together and stop wallowing I’m self pity!

ioioitsoff · 21/01/2020 06:17

Yes, for a change I got to sleep last night but then woke up early so took one for the team and got up to put the heating on.

WorldEndingFire · 21/01/2020 06:33

Been up all night and pretty much all day with a newborn. Won't get another sleep until 9am when I can swap out with DH. Have had some brief pockets of sleep but they're EBF and can only go so long if they ever feel tired to begin with!

okiedokieme · 21/01/2020 06:34

Dog woke me up at 6 (and midnight, and 2am ...) argghh! Dog is very unsettled since his beloved father left me

thefemaleJoshLyman · 21/01/2020 07:02

I'm in my local children's ward with DS, came straight from work yesterday and am still in work clothes feeling yuck. DS is asleep and actually feeling okay, I'm bored, knackered and grubby!
